Philippines Muslim Welfare Society Incorporated   Supporting 'Systematic and Strategic Non-Violent Action' in Mindanao

PMWS News & Updates

The Philippine Muslim Welfare Society was formally organised in December 2003 by a group of Ulama, Alimah and Muslim professionals who wanted to contribute in addressing the problems besetting Mindanao. Particularly, they examined how they could help out in addressing the problems among the different ethnic groups. The group arrived at a formula which they called "Systematic and Strategic Non-Violent Action"

PMWS works in close coordination with some Mindanao-wide groupings. In 2004, PMWS was able to obtain funding support from Volunteer Service Overseas (VSO) and from Cordaid in 2006. Cordaid continues its funding support for PMWS from 2009 to 2012. PMWS is also supported by the Office for the Presidential Advisor on the Peace Process (OPAPP) and has established links with some Local Government Units.
